Writing Challenge : articles and linking

III. Grammar Subject­verb agreement 
Each sentence below has a singular subject and an article (a or an) before it. Change the subject and the verb to a plural form. You will not need an article before plural nouns. 
1.   A cook is a busy worker. Cooks are busy workers. 
2.   A restaurant is a busy place.  Restaurants are busy places.
3.   A customer is a hungry person, (person fi people)  Customers are hungry people.
4.   A grill is very hot.   Grills are very hot.
5.   A hamburger is a small piece of meat between bread.  Hamburgers are small pieces of meat between breads
6.   A hamburger is a hot sandwich.  Hamburgers are hot sandwiches.
7.   An order is on a small piece of paper.  Orders are small pieces of paper.
Continue to make each sentence plural. You will not need an s end­ ing on the verb. You will not need an article before plural nouns. 
8.   A cook works in a restaurant. Cooks work in restaurants.  
9.   A cook works at a grill.  Cooks work at grills.
10.A customer orders a sandwich.  Customers order sandwiches.

Decide whether an article is needed in each blank. Write either a, an, or X (if no article is needed). Do not look back at the text until you are finished. Then use the text to check your work.

BR 5 : Yardman Mows and Blows


Yardman Mows and Blows


I thought the meaning of yardman is gardener.  But the yardman is anemployed person.
The yardman does his works very quickly. I have to be a man like him who can work quickly. Because I do my work slowly.
 After he finished his work, he goes to the next house to do next work. Maybe, he does a lot of works in a day. I think, he is a rich man.

BR:4 Hospitals Can Make You Sick

At first, I thought why the hospital make us sick. I wondered before I read the story.
 In U.S., about 100,000 people die each year in hospitals. I was surprised by the reality and I thought the number of death in year is too much.
I was surprised by the reality that doctor rarely clean their stethoscopes after each patient. When I know it, I don't want to go to the hospital in the U.S..
Nurses don't clean cuffs. That's too dirty. They are great criminals.

Favorite country and Travel plan

  This summer, I want to visit Italy, because I like cooking. So I want to learn how to cook Italian foods. I can make some pizzas from scratch and I can make some pasta. I want to make other Italian foods! But, if I eat a lot of Italian foods, I’ll gain weight.
 First, I’m going to visit Milan. In Milan, there are about 96,000 popular restaurants. So, I’m going to go those restaurants as much as I can go while I stay in Italy. I want to eat a lot of Italian food as much as I can eat. Then I ask the chef “What materials do you use for this dish?” I take a note, and after I go home, I try to cook these dishes.
 Second, I want to go sightseeing in Roma. I’m interested in edifices in Rome! Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, Fontana di Trevi, and Pantheon. I want to go all those places. I want to look around those edifices, because I want to know how those buildings are built. Then I will take a lot of pictures!
 Third, I want to go to the Sea! In summer, swimming in the sea is so good feeling. I will go to Isola di Lampedusa. Around the island, I can do diving and snorkeling, and the boat looks like floats in the air. It’s so cool! And I want to go fishing and eat a lot of kinds fishes on the island. If I can go there with my girlfriend, I can make memories.
 In Italy, there are a lot of things I want to do. To visit Italy, I have to earn much. So, I have to work hard more than I had till now. I try to do it and make a lot of good memories!

BR 3 : Does "Garlic" Mean Garlic?


Kosher food is food that is prepared according to Jewish law.



The book is about the label of garlic powder. On the label, a garlic is not the only thing written. There were U with a circle around and seasoning and phone number. The main character wondered why those words were written on the label.
The U with a circle means Kosher food. But I didn't know what it means . The meaning is food that is prepared according to Jewish law. I thought this book is easy to read, but understand the meaning is difficult.
Then he called the number and ask a woman. I thought he is very active.
